an old heart

My eyes are dry

My faith is old

My heart is hard

My prayers are cold

And I know how I ought to be

Alive to You and dead to me

But what can be done

For an old heart like mine

Soften it up

With oil and wine

The oil is You,

Your Spirit of love

Please wash me anew

With the wine of Your Blood

(Keith Green)

There comes a time when we find ourselves in a place that doesn't make sense. Its confusing and its frustrating. All we can do is cry out: WHY? And it seems like there are no clear answers. what once seemed so clear is now foggy. Is God really listening? Does He really care about the details of our lives?

This is not the time to wallow in self-pity (although its mighty tempting), self indulgence is not an option here; this is not the time to 'cash in' either.

This is the time to persevere, to remember God's faithfulness of the past, to trust Him in the fog and pray for an old heart to be softened again.
